Ernest and Rose Merighi purchased what was then called the Hotel Savoy back in June of 1954. It consisted of a small bar and a small dining room which sat about 30 people. On the second floor were nine rooms and one bathroom. The Merighi family - Ernest, Rose, Tom and Ernie Jr. - moved into the living quarters above the tavern.
Tom and Ernie Jr. joined the family business in 1968. In 1969, they opened the Touch of Brass Ballroom, which seats 500 people. Then, in 1970, they opened the new cocktail lounge which featured a sunken bar and music from Wednesday through Sunday. The cocktail lounge was rennovated in 1985 and again in 1994 as the Savoy Bistro. In 1990, the original bar and dining rooms were reconstructed as the Rose Room, which is a private room for 100 people.

Tom Merighi Jr. (Third generation) joined the business in 1988 and is currently president of Merighi's Savoy Inn.

The Merighi family has been serving customers, hosting weddings and banquets, and making family memories come true for over 50 years. Today, the Savoy Inn is considered one of the finest dining and catering facilities in the Southern New Jersey Area. Off-premises catering was added to the list in 1990.
